DiEt

Dry and moist deciduous forests.

•Smallest wild cat in Asia, and arguably the world.

•14-19 inches in length

•Feed mainly on rodents and birds.

•Mostly nocturnal.

•Tail about half the length of it’s body.

•Both males and females scent mark by spraying urine.

•Hunt primarily on the ground.

THREATS

•Habitat loss and spread of cultivation are problems for both the Indian and Sri Lankan populations. Some reported cases of trade in skins. In some areas hunted for food or as pests to livestock.

Carnivore.

Rodents, small birds and insects.
