What are we doing to reduce our impact on our planet?

Sustainability Mission.

We recognise that we must be leaders not only in caring for the species we look after, but the wider environment too.​ We must address threats to global biodiversity including climate change, waste and overexploitation.

So far...

Planet Made of Plastic

  • No Plastic bottles sold on site.

  • All takeaway disposables are from Vegware, which are plant based compostable disposables.

  • Paper straws only.

  • All timber used on site is FSC approved.

  • We have been zero waste-to-landfill for 7 years running.

  • Energy efficient appliances installed in all animal and human kitchens.

  • Keeper talks contain conservation messages.

  • Supporting local bio-diversity by installing bird, insect and bat boxes.

  • Building a small wildlife garden.

  • Native species planting for pollinators.

  • Leaving undisturbed areas for wildlife we have on site including snakes and newts.

  • All animals and food wast is turned into energy.

  • Conversion to LED lighting in most areas as replacements needed.

  • We only serve rainforest alliance certified coffee.

  • We only sell TeaPigs tea across site. They are certified plastic free, all packaging is made from vegetables and they are part of the Ethical Tea Partnership.
